Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for a number of years. Her family was home-schooled by her mother, within the USA. Raised with racial taunts and being made to feel unwelcome. In the 9th grade, she started to feel more secure after being applauded by her teachers for her performance at school's audition. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed her career ambition. She graduated at the age of 22 with a degree from Julliard School in New York. She began her career at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. Her biggest break came with her role as The Lady of The Lake, in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great reviews for her performance. In 2007 she was cast on the ABC show Grey's Anatomy and became more famous. Known as a singer she released her own single and an extended version of her play. Additionally, she works as an LGBT activist.
