Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. She started her Broadway career with musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, and Hair. As the character Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her career working with prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the production. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the nation's first impeachment proceedings in Over a Century. For two seasons, she was a star of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
